There are many activities if engaged in while driving can increase the risk of being involved in an accident. Some of these activities include distracted driving, driving while under the influence and driving over the speed limit or at a speed that is not safe for road conditions. Recently an accident occurred in Milwaukee in which speed and alcohol were believed to be factors that contributed to the accident.

The accident occurred during the early morning hours of January 1, 2020. The accident occurred near 35th Street and Congress Street. Leading up to the motor vehicle accident, one driver was traveling southbound on 35th Street at a high rate of speed and crossed over the center line. When the driver crossed over the center line, he struck a vehicle that was traveling in the other direction head-on. The impact of the collision was very strong and caused significant damage to the vehicles involved.

Law enforcement officials responded to the scene of the accident. Because the force of the collision was so strong, the driver of the vehicle that was struck tragically passed away from the injuries sustained. In addition, the passenger of the vehicle suffered serious injuries and was transported to the hospital for treatment. The passenger and driver in the striking vehicle also sustained injuries resulting from the collision.

After performing some investigation into the accident, law enforcement officials believe alcohol and speed may have been factors that contributed to the accident. Further, the driver of the striking vehicle did not have a valid driver’s license. Law enforcement officials have stated that charges are expected.
