When we buy or consume products, we expect them to be safe for our use and consumption. Unfortunately that is not always the case, and sometimes the products we purchase pose potential safety and/or health hazards for the consumers. When this occurs, it is common for the companies that produce the item to issue a recall to prevent injuries from occurring. One product that often faces recalls is motor vehicles. Recently, the automaker, Volkswagen, had issued a recall for some of its vehicles.
The recall comes after the discovery that a rear coil springs in the vehicles have the potential to break without warning. When the springs break, people can lose control of their vehicle, which could cause accidents and injuries. The broken spring can cause damage to a tire on the vehicle and can also become a road hazard. The documents released by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration do not indicate or mention any crashes or injuries that have occurred as a result of the broken springs. The NHTSA has indicted that a parts maker used the wrong material or manufacturing process when making the springs that were used in the recalled vehicles. The recall affects over 56,000 Volkswagen vehicles.

The recall will officially begin on April 19th. If you own one of the recalled vehicles, you will be able to take the vehicle to a Volkswagen dealership where they will replace the faulty parts in the car to make them safe for use.
