Turkey Recall

November 26 , 2018 | Personal Injury

A company famous for its turkey products, Jennie-O, has issued a recall for some of its turkey products. The recall comes after a salmonella outbreak that has affected people across the country. Recalls have already been issued because of this problem, but following further investigation, regulators determined that the recalls should be expanded to include more products and companies within the recall.

The recall has affected many people across the country. Thus far, there have been 164 reported illnesses linked to the recall in 35 different states. The recall has also be linked to one death. It has not been determined how many of the people who were sickened had been exposed to the Jennie-O products.

The products included in the recall include 1 pound packages of ground turkey that is raw. The packages of ground turkey were sold all across the country. This recall has affected more than 91,000 pounds of ground turkey. The turkey included in the recall had used by dates in early October, but regulators are concerned that the turkey is still in people’s freezers. If you have any of the recalled turkey, it should be thrown away and not eaten.

The types of ground turkey included in the recall are:

  • Jennie-O Taco Seasoned Ground Turkey
  • Jennie-O Italian Seasoned Ground Turkey
  • Jennie-O Ground Turkey 85% Lean 15% Fat
  • Jennie-O Ground Turkey 93% Lean 7% Fat

Salmonella can cause serious illness, especially in the elderly and young children. To ensure the safety of everyone, the turkey should be disposed of.
