8-Year-Old Drives to Fast Food Restaurant

Driving can be a dangerous activity that requires knowledge of traffic laws and how to operate a vehicle. Because of the knowledge and skills need for driving, states require those who wish to be licensed to drive pass both written and driving tests to obtain a driver’s license. Even though you must have a license to drive a vehicle, sometimes people drive without having a license. An incident occurred recently in Ohio involving an unlicensed driver.

After arriving home from one day, a father went to sleep early, while the mother of the children watched the kids. The mother ended up falling asleep on the couch, and that is when the 8-year-old son and his sister decided that they would like to eat some McDonald’s.

The 8-year-old boy decided that he would take his father’s vehicle to drive himself and his sister to McDonald’s, so they could purchase food. On the drive to the McDonald’s the 8-year-old drove four different intersections and over railroad tracks. Witnesses say that the 8-year-old drove the speed limit and obeyed the traffic laws.

Once, the 8-year-old and his sister arrived at the McDonald’s, they proceeded to go through the drive-thru. McDonald’s workers called law enforcement after the 8-year-old pulled up to the pick up window to pay for the food and the workers realized that a child had been driving the vehicle.

The police found out that the 8-year-old had learned to drive by watching videos on the internet. The 8-year-old hit not hit anything on his drive to the McDonalds. Thankfully, no one was hurt and no accidents resulted from the trip to McDonalds.

This incident shows why drivers should always be cautious and aware of their surroundings while on the road. As a driver, you cannot always predict what other drivers are going to do, but by ensuring that you focus on driving carefully and are aware of what is going on around you, you can help to prevent accidents.
