November 19 , 2019 | Personal Injury

We expect the products we buy to be safe for our use. Unfortunately, sometimes the items we buy pose potential risk to our health and/or safety. We a potential risk with a product becomes known, it is common for the maker of that product to issue a recall for it to help warn consumers of the potentials risks. One product that is often the subject of recalls is automobiles. Recently, the automaker, Nissan, has issued a recall for some of its vehicles.

Nissan has issued a worldwide recall for some of its vehicles because of an issue with the brakes. The recall comes after the discovery that the antilock brake actuator pump can leak fluid onto a circuit board. When the pump leaks fluid onto the circuit board, it can cause electrical shorts and fires. This recall comes as the third recall aiming to address this problem. The recall continues to expand as the company adds to the number of affected models of its vehicles. The first recall occurred in 2016 and a second was issued in 2018.

A total of over 450,000 Nissan vehicles are included in this latest recall. The models included in the recall are:

  • Nissan Murano SUVs with model years 2015 through 2018
  • Maxima sedans with model years 2016 through 2018
  • Infiniti QX60 with model years 2017 through 2019
  • Nissan Pathfinder SUVs with model years 2017 2019

The company plans to send owners of the recalled vehicles information regarding the safety risk associated with the vehicles on December 2, 2019. The company currently has the parts to replace the problematic parts with vehicles which have illuminated brake lights. If the brake lights are on, owners should contact Nissan or Infiniti roadside assistance to have the vehicle towed to a dealer for repairs. The company plans to send a notice next summer when additional parts are available to make replacements on all the recalled vehicles.
