What is the Latest Acura Recall?

April 21 , 2019 | Personal Injury

We expect the products that we buy and consume to be safe for our use and consumption. Unfortunately, that is not always the case and sometimes the products we buy pose potential health and/or safety hazards. One product that is often recalled for potential safety hazards is motor vehicles. Recently, Acura, Honda’s luxury brand, issued a recall for over 360,000 of their vehicles worldwide.

The recall comes after the discovery that there may be a problem with the vehicles’s tail lights. The problem with the tail lights can occur if water gets into the tail lights. If water gets into the tail lights, they can go dark and not function properly while the car is being driven. The company states that the a manufacturing problem has made it possible for water to get into the tail lights. When water gets in it can cause electrical problems with the vehicles’s lights — both in the tailgate and potentially some interior lighting.

The majority of the recalled vehicles are in North America. The recall includes the MDX SUV with model years of 2014 through 2019. The company plans to begin notifying owners of the recalled vehicles early next month. If you own one of the recalled vehicles, you will be able to take your vehicle to an Acura dealership. The dealership will replace the seals, and if necessary install new light assemblies and wiring. The company has not received any reports of crashes or injuries resulting from the problem.
