The 4th of July is rapidly approaching. The 4th of July is usually accompanied with many festivities including parades, cookouts and picnics and fireworks. With the many festivities occuring, the 4th of July and the days surrounding it are almost always busy days for travel. This year will continue the trend.
According to AAA, an estimated 44 million people will be traveling 50 miles or more for the holiday. AAA estimates that 37.5 million of the 44 million holiday travelers will be traveling to their destination via car. This estimate is a 2.9% increase in travelers from last year.
Because of the high volume of traffic for the holiday weekend, drivers should take extra precautions for their road trip. Drivers should make sure that they obey the speed limit, ensure that everyone in the vehicle is wearing their seatbelt, and avoid distracted driving activities as well avoid driving under the influence. Drivers should also plan ahead and anticipate the heavy traffic. By allowing extra time for your trip, you can eliminate stress.
By ensuring that you take the necessary precautions and use safe driving practices, you can help keep both yourself and others safe on the roadways.
We hope that you have a safe and happy 4th of July!
